We build a limited number of instruments in Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) from our legally acquired, pre-Convention stock. As a CITES Appendix I species, every guitar requires its own certification, and export or import permits may be needed depending on where you live, so Brazilian rosewood guitars are available by consultation only. Price on application. Image is representative.
All consultations are handled directly by our team at the workshop.

Widely regarded as one of the finest tonewoods ever used in instrument, Brazilian Rosewood combines breathtaking beauty with extraordinary acoustic performance. Prized by lovers of acoustic tone for generations, its rich tonal complexity and striking natural appearance have earned it legendary status.
Known for its deep bass response, clear trebles, and exceptional harmonic richness, Brazilian Rosewood produces a sound that is both powerful and nuanced. Notes ring with remarkable sustain and projection, while its balanced tonal character allows every detail of performance to shine through.
Visually, Brazilian Rosewood is equally impressive. Its dramatic grain patterns and rich colour variations, ranging from warm chocolate browns to dark purplish-black streaks, make every guitar made with it unique.
Due to decades of limited availability and strict international protections, genuine Brazilian Rosewood has become one of the rarest and most sought-after tonewoods in the world. Guitars crafted from carefully sourced, legally compliant stocks - as all Lowden Guitar Brazilian guitars are - are highly prized and often considered heirloom pieces that can be enjoyed for generations.
