Understanding Lowden
Sizing & Shapes

The Original Series represents the very first Lowden range from 1976 available in a Cedar or Spruce soundboard paired with either Mahogany, Walnut, Rosewood, or Koa for the back and sides.

The Wee Lowden (WL)

Our most compact design, the Wee Lowden is a travel friendly, parlour style guitar that sacrifices nothing in tone. Ideal for players who prioritize portability without compromising on sound.

  • Ideal for Travel, smaller frames, and composing. Perfect for blues and ragtime.

  • Tone profile Detailed, and surprisingly full for its size.

  • Comfort It's 'wee'; you can take it anywhere!

The S

Compact and elegant, the S is our version of a concert guitar.

We love its tonal depth and its excellent projection, particularly for a smaller guitar. The S is perfect for players with a lighter touch or those seeking a more intimate, personal playing experience.

Don't be fooled by its size — the S delivers the volume and tonal warmth usually associated with a much larger instrument.

  • Ideal for Fingerstyle, light strumming.

  • Tone profile Warm, focused and intimate

  • Comfort Great for smaller frames, composing, and extended playing sessions.

The F

The F (‘Flat picker’) is a design classic and is our mid-size guitar. It’s perfect for the all-round guitarist.

The focussed midrange and articulate voice adapt seamlessly to both strumming and fingerstyle techniques, whilst offering exceptional response and sustain. The F is a favourite for its balance of comfort and projection, making it ideal for both stage and studio.

  • Ideal for Fingerstyle, light strumming.

  • Tone profile Warm, focused and intimate

  • Comfort Great for smaller frames, composing, and extended playing sessions.

The O

Our largest guitar, the O (Original) is the body shape first designed by George back in 1974.

Created for those seeking complexity and richness of tone, the O excels in open and alternative tunings. With its piano-like sustain, the O maintains a well-balanced response across all registers, offering clarity and projection for players who demand presence.

  • Ideal for Fingerstyle, strumming, open tunings and solo performers.

  • Tone profile Deep bass, balanced mids, and sparkling trebles.

  • Comfort Best suited for players accustomed to larger guitars.

Passion in every note. Excellence in every detail.
