The GL Electric Series originally came about when George Lowden was asked by Ed Sheeran to design an electric guitar for Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody. George went away on a design retreat and thought about everything he would want from an electric guitar, and how the design would fit with the Lowden aesthetic and values. The result was the Lowden GL-10, combining the finest natural wood finishes with the impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail associated with every Lowden Guitar.
The Original Series captures the essence of what makes a Lowden guitar. Designed with George Lowden’s unique and original bracing, these guitars deliver the distinctive Lowden sound: full, warm, and dynamically responsive. With understated aesthetics and a focus on tonal purity, the Original Series is where our tradition of innovation and craftsmanship began.
In 2004 George decided that a series of guitars similar to the original series but with a couple of
upgrades would be great to offer to the players who wanted the best tuners you can get on the
one hand, but also had a little more detailing in the appointments in general. So the 35 series was
born.
The 50 Series is where the Lowden team explore the limits of tonal and aesthetic refinement, using exclusively Master Grade tone-woods. Designed for players who value uncompromising quality, this series offers an exceptional level of customisation. The goal is simple: to create an instrument that exemplifies the finest craftsmanship the Lowden team can achieve.
At Lowden, our story is as much about the people who play our instruments as it is about the craftsmanship behind them. Explore our collection of guitars inspired by Lowden signature players.
The Lowden Jazz is fitted with an board pickup as standard. The soundbox is voiced for a really great acoustic response, and at the same time stiff enough to prevent the whole guitar from overreacting when played loud through a sound system.
